So I had originally made reservations at Le 114 Faubourg at the Bristol hotel for dinner. My group mutinied on me and didn't want a Michelin Star experience...sad face....okay crying sad face.
They wanted a good classic brasserie experience....so I yelped Au Bouquet Saint Paul. The yelp reviews are spot on!!!
Wonderful classic French bistro on Rue saint Antoine. Warm inviting ambiance. Perfect where no one speaks English and all the patrons are Parisians. Help is warm and patient.
Nice wine list and simple beer selection. They serve you homemade potato chips and marinated olives that are to die for.
Mains are €15-25 and are hearty portions.
My chicken burger was perfect which came with fries and a salad. The ravioli was also perfectly cooked and portioned.
Perfect place to watch the traffic and people go by.
Only caveat is that patrons like to smoke here and you will know it -

Stopped on a whim, had a large beer and croque monsieur, delicious, insanely good. The cheese was so well melted and delicious. Enjoyed every bite!

It is a cafe i return to every time I visit Paris. The food is always good and the staff is always attentive and helpful. One of my favorite dishes is the grilled eggplant with smoked duck and goat cheese, an amazing combination of flavors and a wonderful presentation. I prefer places where I can ask for a recommendation for food and wine, the waiters really care and take pride. Also great value for price.

The service we was excellent! The steak and frites were just ok. The steak needed more flavor/salt and pepper. Unless a steak is absolutely amazing it needs a lot of salt and pepper. Fish had quite a few bones in it. We did love the French onion soup and the coffee drinks.

This is one of my favorite little neighborhood bistros in Paris! After a day of traveling getting to Paris, this is the place I head to. You can just relax, easily order fantastic bistro food in English (because my French is horrible, more like generally absent, but I try) and, I'll say it again, just relax.
I can go on and on about this place, but it's just so welcoming and you can just hang out here, recharge a little, catch your breath, and take on Paris with renewed vigor (after dessert of course).
